We still enjoy Jason's music every day. When we listen to the vinyl 'Live: Vanquishers', recorded near us in Tilburg, The Netherlands, it sounds like Songs: Ohia is playing in our living room. That gives a comforting feeling. It's so special how Jason continues to touch us with his music. Over time, it loses nothing in it's power. Through his music, Jason is a companion for life.
I was a latecomer to Jason’s music, but since being introduced to his catalogue, he has absolutely become one of my all-time favorites. As a musician myself, he serves as such an inspiration, whether be his work ethic in terms of songwriting or his amazing use of imagery, I can’t think of any other artist that has meant more to me in the last 5 years or so.
Just last night, I shared what Molina took to be "the real truth about it" with a dear friend. He was on to something there and it's something I reckon anyone can stand to learn (and lose sight of and learn again ad infinitum). No one gets it right. We're all supposed to try.
I heard the news on a southbound Greyhound in northern Ohio, which was oddly fitting. I think about him every day and his voice and words bring me immense solace. I wish he was still here, but I am forever grateful for what he left behind. Forever my North Star as a writer and a listener.
I had a crush in high school that played Captain Badass for me, and I was immediately hooked. She's long gone from my life, but Jason has burned on in my soul. Thank you, Jason, for setting my heart on fire.
Thanks Jason for being there with your music in my darkest hours 💙 You are gone but not forever

Thank you for being the pilot to my darker days. Now and forever.
Thank you so much for all of the life changing music.
Gone, but not forever. 💛

I still have a hard time listening. Too real. Same with Chesnutt.
