Hey everyone,
Hope you’re all doing well.
Time for another little roundup of some nice Molina-related things that have been occupying our worlds of late. This is the first of these for a little while, so there is a fair bit to share, from archive April shows and photos, posters and radio sessions, to Songs: Ohia vinyl news, unexpected MECo fans on UK television, and more!
We hope you all enjoy reading and listening.
Until next time,
S&D x
This Month In Molina…
There’s a lot to look back on where April is concerned, so here’s a selection of interesting things from the archives over the years, from original show posters to live video footage and more.
April 3rd, 2002 - Songs: Ohia, Swearing At Motorists + Early Day Miners at Grog Shop, Cleveland Heights OH
April 7th, 2002 - Songs: Ohia at 3rd Floor, Wilmington, North Carolina

April 20th, 2003 - Later dubbed ‘The North Star Blues Session’, Jason recorded a live session and interview for the Duyster radio show on Studio Brussel, FM 94.5 Belgium. At that point still touring under the Songs: Ohia moniker, Jason performed a stripped-back acoustic set debuting new songs that would later appear on record.
April 27th, 2000 - Jason performs 'Wide Awake' during a Songs: Ohia show at Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
April 29th, 1999 - 25 years ago this year, Songs: Ohia at Second Story, Bloomington, Indiana
Axxess & Ace - UK record store stock + A&A Truckstop sessions
For those of you in the UK/EU that perhaps missed out on the limited anniversary ‘Axxess & Ace’ pressing last month, a little heads up that the remaining stock of last year’s National Album Day pressing has been distributed to UK independent record stores including Rough Trade, Banquet Records, Drift, Crash and more.
An added heads up for those of you who might be interested in hearing some unreleased music…following Erin Osmon’s brilliant ‘Axxess & Ace’ oral history piece (which documented the fact the album was recorded not once, but twice!), we’ve started sharing the previously unheard first session over on the S&D paid tier here - Axxess and Ace Truckstop session
A rare UK MECo television appearance…
Lastly, it was kindly brought to our attention by fans of the popular UK Channel 4 comedy show Taskmaster that celebrated British comedian John Robins was wearing some Magnolia Electric Co merch in last week’s episode! John has spoken fondly of his love for Jason’s music in the past on his excellent podcast with fellow comedian Elis James.
Here’s a link to the show in case you’re able to watch it back: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/taskmaster/on-demand/75588-004
