Thank you all so much for your feedback on the first edition of these - we’re so happy so many of you are connecting with these and getting something out of S&D.
We’ve had some great things sent through which we’ll be sharing soon!
So as we settle into these, with a new one coming every two weeks, we’ll get straight into volume two…
As ever, if there is something you want to share here you can reply to this email or get us at Molina@secretlycanadian.com
All the best,

Brigid Mae Power - Didn’t It Rain
A real highlight from last year we are keen to bring to your attention is this wonderful cover of ‘Didn’t It Rain’ from Irish folk musician Brigid Mae Power, released in August 2021.
At the time Stereogum summed it up nicely - “In her version, Power treats “Didn’t It Rain” as if it’s a folk traditional. She sings over lonely acoustic guitars and violins, and her voice has a mythic weight behind it. This is a song that you can get lost in.”

Treble Magazine - Twelve Artists on Jason Molina
A nice piece from Treble Magazine from back in March where they asked twelve artists to choose and write about their favourite Molina song - some lovely write ups and interesting choices here. Ft Marissa Nadler, Erin Osmon, Wild Pink & more.

Magnolia Electric Co / The National / The Six Parts Seven - Cleveland, OH, 2003
We’ve been looking a lot into some old shows at the moment, digging into posters, line ups, lost venues and more. One particularly cool show from Cleveland in 2003 really stood out… Were you there? We’d love to hear more.

Ghost Tropic - Online Comic
Finally, and hopefully you already know about this, earlier this week we shared the news of a new online comic inspired by the life and work of Jason Molina by Secretly co-founder Ben Swanson and Buenos Aries based artist Güido Ferro.
This will be shared weekly on this Instagram page - paid S&D subscribers, if you’ve head to S&D you can find an early look at more panels and a short interview / preface from Güido.
