Hey everybody,
We hope you’re all doing okay out there.
As ever, here is our (mostly) monthly round-up of all things Molina. As it goes sometimes we don’t have a huge amount of new things to share with you, but we hope you enjoy digging into some November anniversaries, live shows and memories. We’ve also shared some lovely fan art, yet another heartening Molina shout out from a very exciting band and an EP tipped to us by a band who named themselves after an early S:O track…
All the best from us,
S&D x

Ghost Tropic - (13th November 2000):
“Speak to me if we're near the bottom / Work it out with me”
Songs: Ohia’s classic 2000 album ‘Ghost Tropic’ was released 24 years ago this month.
Here’s the incredible 12-minute ‘Incantation’ from the record.

Hard To Love A Man EP (Nov 10th 2005):
This week also saw the anniversary of the release of Magnolia Electric Co.’s Hard To Love A Man EP
Described by Pop Matters upon its release as “one of the band’s finest songs”, you can hear the title track here
-
Molina & Johnson (Nov 2nd 2009):
The last of Novembers releases is the 15th anniversary of the release of Molina & Johnson.
Below you can see some of Matt Pence’s brilliant photos documenting this session.

We were recently contacted by DIY label Revelator Records about their maiden release, an EP called ‘House sounds’ by Brooklyn band Dogwood Gap (out tomorrow!)
All involved are big Molina fans, so on top of naming the band after a Songs: Ohia track, they have included a cover of ‘Farewell Transmission’ on the EP.
Check it out and here a preview track here:
Finally, the brilliant Horse Jumper of Love (Run For Cover) recently took part in Pitchfork’s MyPerfect10 with guitarist & singer Dmitri choosing Songs: Ohia’s ‘Didn’t It Rain’. Describing the album as “life changing”, you can check out everything he had to say about the record below:
