Hey everyone,
Hope you’re all doing okay.
We’ve got a few things to share with you today, some memories, images, tributes and covers…
From the anniversary of the first ‘Songs: Molina’ shows to mentions of British heavy metal’s influence on Jason from BBC Scotland there’s a bit to dig into here.
From early next month we’ll be spending some time digging into Josephine with some exciting things planned! Starting with Magnolia Electric Co. who will be reconvening early next week to discuss the record in detail… a conversation you’ll be able to see & hear very soon.
As ever, if there is something you want to share here you can reply to this email or get us at Molina@secretlycanadian.com
All the best,
S&D

Five years - Songs: Molina, A Memorial Electric Co.
Five years ago this week 'Songs: Molina - A Memorial Electric Co.' began its short run of dates at Motorco in Durham, NC. A host of special guests joined that night including Hiss Golden Messenger’s MC Taylor.
There’s great footage of that tour from 25th June 2017 here
Artwork, of course, by Will Schaff 🖤

“YO YO! CLEAN THAT SQUEEGEE”
A lovely image we found from a set of photos kindly provided by the Live: Vanquishers guys. This one is from the European tour in 2000 where Vanquishers was recorded.
With thanks to Dan Macadam & Jeff Panall for these images.

I found myself standing on the mountain
Beneath my full moon heart
BBC Scotland’s Natasha Raskin Sharp recently paid tribute to Jason as part of her regular ‘Late Great’ feature - it jumped out as nice tribute and an interesting mention of hearing British heavy metals influence in ‘John Henry Split My Hear’

With thanks to Josh Smith for flagging this one to us. A lovely version of ‘Steve Albini’s Blues’ by Indiana trio ‘Cloakroom’
