Hi everybody,
Hope you’re all doing okay out there.
Here we have another round-up of some recent things we think you might be into relating to Jason and his music. From the Josephine anniversary to another brilliant new artist name-checking JM as an influence there is a fair bit to dig into here we think you’ll enjoy.
Until next time,

But I saw the horizon and I had to know where it all ends
This month saw the 14th anniversary of the Magnolia Electric Co. classic ‘Josephine’ - we’ll be sharing some unheard Josephine session demos in the coming weeks but for now, we would always recommend this excellent Ben Schreiner documentary from the sessions

In an increasingly common trend amongst younger indie artists, the fantastic Chicago artist Squirrel Flower has announced her new album ‘Tomorrow’s Fire’ and shared new music, name-checking Jason as an influence for the album alongside Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits.
You can definitely hear a touch of Magnolia (and even Strand of Oak’s ‘JM’) in the brilliant ‘When A Plant Is Dying’ above.

“In the end we are merely proof, that we weren’t endless”
We’ve been continuing to dig into and share music from a collection of demo tapes named The Lamb & Flag that Jason left at the Secretly office, recently moving onto L&F Jam 003 which features:
‘An Absent Star’
‘Are We Any Closer’
‘Drive The Shadow’
‘Hawk & The Fog’
A collection of beautiful solo demos, these songs have ended up on records including Ghost Tropic, Live: Vanquishers & ‘Mi Sei Apparso Come un Fantasma’

An artist you will all be well-aware of, William Schaff recently shared these beautiful nesting dolls from a private collection on Instagram, featuring work from Magnolia as well as a number of other iconic albums he created the artwork for.
You can (and should) follow more of his work here: https://www.instagram.com/williamschaff/
