Hey everyone,
Hope you’re all doing alright!
Another Molinaverse roundup for you here today…
Featuring a great story, a new archive demo, a young band from the UK inspired by Jason, an Amoeba Records based Songs: Ohia // Songs: Oheeha debate and news of a new Magnolia cover from the fantastic Caitlin Rose.
Lots to dig into then! Back next week with a new Lamb & Flag track.
Take care,
S&D x

“Chris I have to get on stage. Thank you, Jason Molina”
Lets start with this great Molina story shared with us via vinylronin on Instagram.
"Meant to post this yesterday…but this is one of the most special records in my collection. 💜
Years ago, I saw Magnolia Electric Co. Live, and I saw Jason at the bar. I was so nervous and excited to meet him! And I was proud to show him this album, because I knew it was rare, even then. He gladly takes it and asks my name and starts writing, and I notice it’s taking longer. I’m like, what’s he doing? Then he hands it to me and smiles and walks on stage and immediately starts playing. 😲 Then I look at my album, and this is what he wrote. I couldn’t believe it!
I will treasure this my whole life.
Thank YOU, Jason Molina. Thank you for your deep words aching voice, vulnerability, and poetic existentialism. I Miss you. 💜"

Lamb And Flag #2 - JAM 002
We’re continuing to share the second tape of the Lamb and Flag series from the Secretly Archives.
Track 3 is coming next week but for now you can hear ‘An Unease Soared Up’ here
The excellent Caitlin Rose recently announced a Deluxe Edition of her new album ‘Cazimi’ which will feature a studio recording of ‘Nashville Moon’ - a long live staple, we’re very excited to hear her take on the song upon its release later in the month.
Head to Stereogum for more.

Phoenix’s AJJ recently took part in Amoeba Records longstanding ‘What’s In My Bag?’ feature - choosing Pyramid Electric Co. - watch for an enjoyable Ohia vs Oheeha discussion…

“I guess the sound we arrive on is a balance of influences that range from midwest-emo, art rock from the 2000s and the guitar driven country rock of Songs: Ohia and Big Thief.”
We’re constantly keeping an eye out for artists who are shouting out Jason or taking inspiration from his music, so today we have Green Gardens, an art rock band from Leeds, UK who recently discussed S:O in an interview with Still Listening

I’m glad to see another track will be coming next week. At the rate you were going it would take one year to get through the whole tape.
