Today marks 20 years since the release of the final Songs: Ohia album and Jason’s most critical & commercial success - Magnolia Electric Co.

If you’re here then odds are you don’t need us to explain this record or its significance - from the lightning in a bottle recording process, to William Schaff’s iconic artwork, from the howling opening of Farewell Transmission to the inspired cameos, MECo is widely considered (definitely by us) to be a perfect album.

Mournful and raucous, widescreen but intimate - MECo was the bridge between Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. and one of the great musical gifts Jason left us.

We will be celebrating this album on Static & Distance for the next 12 months but for now we’ll let the record speak for itself.
